9 Months Old Part II

Today is Ellis' 10 Month Birthday! I thought I would be a good blogger and wrap up his 9th month - yay me! :)

Ellis is...
  • INTO EVERYTHING!!
  • Clapping - he very precisely puts both palms together. He does not show this trick on cue. He saves his claps for something funny or exciting. He's definitely stingy with his claps.
  • Skilled at opening the kitchen cabinet doors. He loves pulling them open and slamming them shut.
  • Obsessed with looking out the window and/or the blinds and curtains.
  • Gasping to get attention. When he thinks he's doing something funny or wants you to look at him, he sucks in air before squealing/smiling/waving.
  • So sweet when he waves bye-bye. His teachers say that him waving bye to me in the mornings makes their hearts melt.
  • Getting a top tooth (finally)! It has already broken through the skin. His teacher had to point it out to me. At least this explains some of the fussiness over the past few weeks.
  • Still sleeping fabulously! The crying it out method worked for him! However, I did have a midnight and 3:30 am waking one night this week.
  • A great eater at school and much more selective at home.
  • Still getting 4 - 8 ounce bottles a day (but sometimes, he may get a 5th one)
  • Still not grasping the concept of a sippy cup, but he will in Ellis time
  • Crawling to the refrigerator at school and standing there when he's hungry as a signal to his teachers - much like Bella stands by the door when she wants a treat or to go out. I think this is pretty smart, at least he's conditioned!
  • Crazy about electrical outlets and cords and cell phones and remotes and everything else, just like someone else I know.
  • Saying mama, dada, bababa - he has started looking at Brad when he says da da.
  • A stomach sleeper - this may explain why he was not a good sleeper in the very beginning when he couldn't roll over.
  • Loving his mobility - cruising around the furniture is a favorite.
  • Very interested in Bella's food and water bowls. He hasn't tried to drink or eat her food but he's crazy about dropping his toys in or around them.
  • Aware of 'no no' - he is aware of what that means but he gives you a look and keeps at it.
  • Knows when he's doing something he shouldn't be doing and glances back at you to see if you are watching.
  • A drummer in the making - he loves music, shaking his booty to the rhythm and beating on things. His school teachers think he'll definitely be some type of musician, they keep saying a pianist.
  • Tasting everything - from shoes (disgusting) to new foods (good)
  • Very into his pacis...he has one in his mouth and he'll grab one or two to hold in his hands when he's tired and/or sleeping. They are his lovies. This is sad that my child's comfort is something plastic and hard, not a soft animal, blanky or even burp cloth (like I thought we were going this route early on).
  • The sweetest baby ever!!!!! and I love him so very much!!!!
