The picture above is from our wedding day, as we were leaving our reception showered by sparklers and well wishes from our friends and family. Fast forward a year to May 17, 2009, and although we didn't have all the hoopla and fire, it was still a special day. It was very exciting to make it to our first anniversary as a married couple!
Brad surprised me with a cake from my favorite Birmingham bakery, Edgar's. It was a yummy strawberry cake with white icing (a winning combination!!). He also gave me some beautiful white roses for my anniversary present, a Faberge rose bowl. How does crystal translate to paper you might ask? Well, we had gone to a silent auction and bid and won my beautiful rose bowl. The paper auction card was my paper present (I know I am totally stretching this, but Brad bought into it and I got my bowl, so that's all the matters, right??!!).
Brad received a card and a gift bag. Inside the gift bag was his paper present, a note explaining that his real present (new basketball shoes) was on the way (darn you Foot Locker website and your shady shipping methods!!). Needless to say, Brad was quite surprised with his present and has been wearing them every time he shoots hoops behind our house and with his friends on Sundays.
